The same guy is shown a few moments later performing a jumping attack on Geralt,so I would say he differs from the "normal" bandits we have seen. so the scene looks like a 2on1 duel to me.... a nice "homage" from CDPR if you ask me...
I like the fact that they have included the first clothes Geralt wears in TW1. Cool reference.
