I after buying The Witcher and installing it, I continued to get the error that I must be an adminastrator to play the game, which I am. I downloaded the 1.5 patch, and I know I need to uninstall Tages, but there was no choice to uninstall it and I can't find it under my programs and my game still doesn't work. I'm sorry if I'm missing something that has already been posted, but I just really want to play this game. Thanks
go here and choose the one appropriate for your system

I don`t know how long since you`ve given your computer a general cleaning might want to check around all cooling fans also do you know your PSU specs and your card clocks

System is clean enough, PSU specs and card clocks are also more than good enough to play The Witcher.Dirvers are up to date and witcher.exe has administrator rights

After looking at the report i saw something about XW dock 2.02 beta if these are beta drivers i would see if i could find a suitable stable version as betas are generally not a good idea as they can cause all sorts of problemsI also run a GTS250 w/ 1 gig vram and i would recommend no more than stock clocks which are 740 memory clock 1835 shader clock 1000 memory clock and would also set fan speed according to card temps. to rule out overheatingalso were the drivers done on a clean install or overwrite . Clean installs are bestAt the time of the report your virtual memory was almost nonexistant i would close any unneeded background programs including any virtual drives and make an exception in your AV software

Thanks for your fast answer. The "beta drivers" have nothing to do with my GTS 250 it's just a dock bar. (http://xwdock.aqua-soft.org/):)Still crashes randomly, damn was so looking forward to play this cool game.Anyway thank you tommy for your help. Maybe a fresh install of the game/drivers will help

There are several more things that can be tried after you reinstall game and driversany time i see a program and don`t know what it is i do a google and i did but nothing like the link you gave ever came up will have to check that one outI know for a while i was having crashes out the wazoo but slowly and patiently i tried a multitude of things some of which i can`t even remember but i can say that now the witcher might crash once every couple of weeks and i can also say that whatever it takes to get it to work is definitely worth it. The Witcher is one of the best rpgs i have ever played bar none

read the FAQ: http://www.thewitcher.com/forum/index.php?topic=17503.0 update to patch 1.5 first, remove TAGES as explained, then retry

Hi there! We're aware that the game does not always run in the plug-and-play way on the Windows 7 OS. Please note it only needs a few simple steps to run smoothly:>> Always install the latest version you own.>> Get the latest graphic drivers for your video card>> Get the TAGES drivers available at TAGES official webpage>> Run the game as an administrator. It's the option in the launcher's context menu (right mouse button).Hope it helps! Do not hesitate to contact the support in your specific language - it's all listed in HERE.The EE version and most of the updated box-versions of the game run with Windows 7 without any issues at the first time.

I just bought TH-EE from the store the other day. I run Windows 7 64-bit. I go to install the game, and even make it through the second disc, but as soon as it done with that step and goes on the next, I get "that blue screen" telling me that windows was shut down, and that it dumped all of my newly installed information, and says "SYSTEM_SERVICE_EXCEPTION...TECHNICAL INFORMATION:***STOP:0x0000003B" and continues with 4 or 5 series of codes of numbers and letters. I have changed it to the compatibilty mode (Windows XP SP2) like it, and the tech support told me too, and I turned off the couple features that it suggested and gave it admin priviliges... I have also updated the TAGES to 5.5 like it told me too. It still happens. Can somebody help me out here?

Most generally "the blue screen" is a hardware issue but you can read: http://witcher.wikia.com/wiki/Getting_tech_help_on_the_forum and attach that PCWizard report as instructedBut i would check and do a clean install of the latest video drivers

New store bought TW-EE dvd. Windows 7, 64-bit. I have followed tips and suggestions. Installed first disc. Intalls second disc... begins "Installing Distributables", and then goes to the "blue screen" shutting down windows and dumping newly installed info. Someone mentioned updating drivers... how do you do that. I downloaded and installed PCWizard. Where do I go from here?

How do you "check and do a clean install of the latest drivers"?

I'm using windows 7 ultimate x86, GTS250 and the witcher EE patch 1.5. I found out the reason is this "Display Driver NVIDIA Windows Kernal Mode Driver, Version 258.96 stopped responding and has successfully recovered." It only happen when I play the witcher, every other games is find.I did everything written in the FAQ and some advices about NVIDIA driver I found on the net but nothing work. The game still crashing randomly. It work perfectly when I used windows XP SP3. I was in chapter IV with patch 1.4 when I played it on windows XP SP3, I wish I has finished it back then.
