A quick look at the game configs XML

So is that the Sharpen thing that the devs talked about that we can actually turn it on again to have the game to look like the 35 minute video?

I believe so. There is actually a toggle for it in the in-game settings, so no modding required.

Thanks for the links. I wonder if the sharpening is the same as in the older versions. Well, we're gonna find out in 2 days.

So hairworks uses PhysX correct? Because I'm thinking of just popping in my old 770 and using it as a dedicated PhysX card for this game.

That's a bad idea, because Hairworks uses DirectCompute and not PhysX. The reason being is that there is very little simulation going on for the hair and fur that demands a more robust GPGPU API like CUDA or OpenCL. And since DirectCompute is a component of DX11 (which is already used for rendering), it's actually faster to use DirectCompute which is native to DX11, rather than CUDA or OpenCL which are non native and would require context switching.

All PhysX in the game will be calculated on the CPU, and this is a good thing. CPU PhysX has improved by leaps and bounds over the years, where it's actually really good now and can offer similar high end effects that were exclusive to GPU PhysX years ago.

Not sure you can offload Hairworks onto another card, since it uses Direct Compute. We'll have to see.

I'm pretty sure you can't, for reasons that I mentioned in my reply to ModelsOfBoats. Since there is no context switching involved with Hairworks, you can't offload it to another GPU that isn't rendering..

The 35 min demo never had sharpen, just like SOD didnt have it, and all footge since E3 2014. Sharpen is part of the look in VGX and 2013 material.

Sorry im a noob what should i look for then to have those nice looking graphics when we get the game?

This

http://reshade.me/

and presets from here

https://sfx.thelazy.net/games/ (The game should be TW3). Presets will come as the game is released.

You can make your own preset too though that takes a bit of time in understanding things.

Here is one example of what can be done with these by just a simple preset.

What's the difference between Framework and SweetFX 2.0

Get the Framework, it comes with a variety of other shaders beside SweetFX 1.5 (like GemFX). The other download comes with Beta SweetFX 2.0 which I haven't tried that much.

No I don't think you need a monster system to do some post processing, however some effects do have performance hit and if you try to do AA through this then it will have bigger hit.

Get the Framework like I mentioned above or if you want to try SweetFX Beta 2.0 then get that one, I haven't tried it that much myself as SweetFX 1.5 does the job pretty well :)

downgrading the graphics even further

A question - everybody seem to be thinking about increasing the graphics quality. Unfortunately, my problem is exactly the opposite - my fps drops occasionally to 21-22 (gtx660m), which strains my eyes and negates the advantages of the combat system.

Is there a way to tweak the graphics to go "below low"? I don't really need to see the grass, I can live with trees or houses appearing nearer than now? I would be very obliged for any suggestions.
